February in Florida means cooler weather for outdoor ventures, like walking around the neighborhood or enjoying dinner outside. It’s especially perfect this month as Valentine’s Day approaches; whether you’re celebrating it with your partner, friends, or by yourself, here are our top picks for romantic & relaxing places to visit while also enjoying the weather.
One of the most picturesque & charismatic areas in all of South Florida is downtown Delray Beach along famous Atlantic Avenue. Dotted with boutiques, restaurants, parks, bars, and more, this is a great area to find yourself in when you’re not sure what you want to do because of the endless selection of options. As you stroll along The Ave, stop by any shop that catches your eye, take the time to admire the art you pass, and dine at whichever restaurant’s aroma draws you in.
On a particularly cool day, stop by this walkable indoor/outdoor garden to admire the work of famed artist Ann Norton. Inside her home, you can browse the gallery & other interior design features; outside, walk through the gardens to marvel at Norton’s mysterious sculptures and the beautiful flora surrounding them.
Located in the heart of Coconut Grove, this newly remodeled and refreshed iconic hotel recently reopened its doors to the public, reclaiming its spot as one of the most romantic and stunning spots in this Miami neighborhood. Unique architecture and a lush, tropical atmosphere describe the main open-air atrium space, an area perfect for sitting and talking or enjoying a drink and a bite from their acclaimed on-site restaurant, Mayfair Grill. Or, guests can head up to the rooftop pool and bar, where Calypso rhythms play against a backdrop of the water. Make it a staycation by staying over in one of their romantic suites complete with a clawfoot tub and in-room bar.
Dinner with a view is always the case at whichever restaurant you choose at Las Olas Beach in Fort Lauderdale. Whether you’re in the mood for Italian, Mexican, or seafood, the countless options dotted along A1A all boast coastal views if you opt to sit outside. The best part? All that’s left to do after dinner is walk across the street to close out the night by taking a stroll along the shore.
Perhaps nothing says romance more than a gorgeous sunrise. For Valentine’s Day, make it even more of a special occasion by renting out paddleboards to be out on the water while the morning comes into view (one of our favorite local businesses to rent out water sports equipment is Island Water Sports in Deerfield Beach). Experience ultimate serenity with this activity, almost as if you’re getting a private showing of the sunrise itself.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to head out & enjoy the cool weather South Florida has to offer this time of year, whether you do so with a partner, friends, or solo. These are only a few of the spots where you can fully experience the breezy climate & soft sun unique to February in Florida.
