Museums are great places to spend a hot or rainy day inside while still having tons to do at every corner, and at the Frost Museum of Science, there might even be too much to do in one day! The trek to Miami is worth it to explore the planetarium, aquarium, life-size dinosaur exhibits, and other hands-on, interactive features this museum has to offer. Tickets for adults and children go for between $22 and $33, depending on whether you go during a weekday or weekend, but admission is free for members. Don’t feel like driving? You can now hop on the Brightline to visit the Frost Museum, which is located just a short walk or free shuttle ride away.
You’ve heard of bumper cars, but what about bumper cars on ice? Start a healthy family rivalry at the now-open Boca Ice & Fine Arts Center located just off Congress Avenue. For $10 a ride, you can hop on an ice bumper car from Friday to Sunday to glide and spin around on ice with friends and family. Once you’ve had your fun there, the park also features public skating, an alpine ski machine, a 120-foot slide, and more to enjoy.
For most of the country, early summer is the prime time for strawberries. Experience picking your own with the whole family at the Girls U-Pick Strawberry Patch in Delray Beach. Grab a basket & roam the rows of fresh berries, picking any and all that stand out to take home. When you’re done, you can stroll their garden, sift for gems at the mining station, pet goats and ponies at the petting zoo, and grab an ice cream at the parlor. Plus, with admission under $10 for seniors, adults, and children, it’s the perfect affordable summertime activity.
Venture to this man-made island situated in the Lake Worth Inlet for a fun-filled beach day. Hop on a water taxi on the mainland to get to the quaint Peanut Island, where activities like beach lounging, fishing, picnicking, and exploring feel more special than your typical day at the beach. You can also access the island by way of your own boat, adding an extra layer to the adventure.
Find adventure above the treetops at this outdoor amusement park located just across the street from the Miami Children’s Museum. At Treetop Trekking Miami, kids and kids-at-heart of all ages can strap in to experience suspended bridges, swings, ziplines, and more, all from the trees. Purchase packages based on course difficulty and age of those in your party.
